National Politics and Federal Aid to Education

    Synopsis

Education and politics have ordinarily been studied as separate subjects but when political decisions affect educational programs, such separation is no longer possible.  Aimed at a dual audience that includes both those interested in education and those interested in public affairs, this study examines the political factors as well as the social and fiscal debates affecting general federal aid to elementary and secondary education in the United States from 1870 to 1961.
